about
7. Hey Autumn – This song probably grooves the most on this album. It has a very live feel. Luke once again killed it on bass. Damu on drums, and Pat on guitar. It felt like my old days in DC playing live shows. The lyrics were mainly about how people like us come about. I was born, my father died, and my mother loved me as much as she could. That was the intro. From there, I began coloring in the world, and just kept going. I think this song is me in my most natural element. And the jam just kept going. Since recording this, I’ve been wanting to return to the stage. We’ll see what happens.
lyrics
Hey Autumn
Born in a world you first could not see
Kiss from my mom nothing can harm me
Love was the first to hear my heartbeat
Nothing inside the world could harm me
Father would die was hit by drunk drive
Her meaning mom would wear her disguise
Black from the things protect my innocence
Oh my god I swear I’m convinced
Rollercoaster drive without a chauffeur
Life with no stand still, there’s no poster
Child of the springtime birth of closure
So long to childhood nice to know you
And then get infinite, want to sit in the sun with spotted images
Want to find my own girl and then get intimate
Want to leave me alone to meet my penmanship
Want to talk to the world and say remember this
Don’t want to hear from the world, maybe the sky
Maybe all of the world could be inside
Say halo you go, nothing’s for sure
All that you know’s inside
So far from home, too far to go
It’s all the road, alright
Say hey autumn Fly
Dreams of the team I still cannot see
Girl of my dreams just could not get me
Told if I loved her, let her soul free
Found that the bird that’s caged was all me
Late in my 20’s I became fly
Still couldn’t see it’s walking on by
Product of God, my grandma’s souls guide
Lessons I gave to those on my vibe
All is faded images of home
Rivers rushing taking me to unknown
Out to spaces, places me with clones
No, it’s family I call own
So alike and so like paradise
Gambling my soul is cold as ice
So it’s here and soul it does divide
Something that I see inside your eye
We don’t light the room
We just guide the mood
Let it touch the room
If you feel it, cool
Could it be the soul,
Could it be the view
Could it be the soul
They say nothing’s new
Under the sun and we’re
Under the sun and we’re
Under the sun and we’re
Say halo you go, nothing’s for sure
All that you know is inside
So far from home, too far to go
It’s all the road, alright
Say hey autumn Fly

Like so many others, this came like a bolt out of the blue and, even though it's well before payday, I had to have this astonishing album on vinyl to prove it exists. The feel of the tunes makes me feel like the Impressions do, Curtis Mayfield, the big spaces and instinctive horns and stuff drifting in and out. Great grooves and I can see lots of ghosts nodding along to this with big smiles on their faces. At last! Anthony Cottrell
